Stuart has released a new limited edition colour print for sale.
The painting Middlesbrough was made as part of an exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in 2000: Eastbourne to Edinburgh: A painter’s Odyssey. This exhibition featured work made in response to a roundtrip that Wright took around Britain in 1999 as the recipient of the BP Travel Award, part of the annual BP Portrait Award. The figures in the painting are a combination of a real family that Wright encountered in Middlesbrough, an American student that Wright met on the underground, a twelfth century limewood carving of the Madonna and child from the Met collection, New York, and the actor Steven Berkoff.
Each print is limited to an edition of 100 and they are hand signed and numbered.
Printed on Hahnemühle archival paper, they are now on sale.
