The original portrait, from which this print is taken, was made of the late great Sir Michael Gambon during his epic tenure as Falstaff in Shakespeare’s Henry VI at the National Theatre in 2006. The portrait depicts Gambon in his National Theatre dressing room, part in costume and part out of costume. The portrait won first prize in the prestigious Garrick/Milne Prize and now hangs at the Garrick Club in London.
